This is an ONSITE role.

Summary: Craig Technologies has an opening for a Propulsion Officer at Johnson Space Center TX. The candidate will be assigned to the Propulsion Group within the Flight Dynamics Division at NASA Johnson Space Center. This position is for a Flight Controller for Space Launch System (SLS) Orion Boeings CST-100 Starliner Gateway and/or other Artemis space exploration vehicles within the NASA JSC Flight Operations Directorate (FOD). The candidate will first train and then attain certifications for a Mission Control console position. The candidate will interface with the NASA customer on a daily basis as well as many other engineering organizations and domestic/international partners.

Detailed Description:

The Propulsion (PROP)/Booster Officer is responsible for all aspects of the operation and management of the propulsion system hardware and software used during all phases of flight. This includes thruster performance propellant usage translation burns and attitude control maneuvers and consumables budgeting management and reporting. This position involves understanding and providing operations oversight support assessment for spacecraft and launch vehicle propulsion systems of the commercial crew (commercial vehicles that delivers crew to the ISS) Orion Space Launch System vehicles Gateway and HLS.

Instructors (Prop/Booster Monitor) are responsible for developing training flows for Artemis and Starliner crews instructors and flight controllers for preparation of propulsion mission operations. The Prop/Booster Monitor scripts and executes malfunctions for training and flight specific simulations provides feedback and additional training recommendation to ensure flight controller requirements/proficiency are met.

The Launch Vehicle Monitor (LVM) role is responsible for attending Commercial Crew Program (CCP) Engineering Review Boards (ERBs) and Program Control Boards (PCBs) and providing recommendations to the CCP Assistant Director on whether to Concur or Non-Concur with the boards decision and provide rationale. Gathering data on SpaceX Falcon 9 and/or ULAs Atlas V issues of high interest in coordination with NASA CCP Engineering and sending detailed and concise reports to FOD Management. As well as providing real-time on-console support to the FOD Pre-Launch and Launch Teams.

Although infrequent shift work including weekends and holidays and the ability to support an irregular schedule will be required during missions and simulations. Additional duties require supporting meetings and concisely reporting results to management and team-members writing system briefs and console procedures developing MCC displays console tools cue cards and making oral presentations.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics Mathematics or Engineering (ABET). This position requires successful completion of a government background check before commencement of employment.

Knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to real-time operations is essential. Previous experience and knowledge with propulsion and fluids systems/curricula is highly desired. Excellent communication (verbal and written) interpersonal leadership teamwork technical and administrative skills are mandatory.

must demonstrate ability to plan lead and coordinate a wide range of tasks.

must demonstrate the ability to progress through flight controller certifications.

must be able to apply technical knowledge and operations concepts to exercise effective decision making and initiative in a real-time and fast-paced operational environment.

should be a self-starter who excels in a dynamic environment that requires him/her to work effectively both alone or as part of a team.

Candidate is required to pass a standard flight controller physical examination and pass security clearances. Shift work (nights weekends and holidays) is required. Candidate must be able to support infrequent travel domestically.
